WHERE IS THE MISSING DOLLAR?

t was erroneous in the first place to add what they both gave you to what you have to try to equal $100. The value of the shirt was $97, so they already gave you $3 more than the shirt costs. 50+50=100-97=3; you owe $100, you HAVE $3 and a $97 shirt, which equals $100. You choose to split your $3 with your parents, but the accounts are still balanced. You wouldn't add what you now owe each to your dollar expecting it to come out to $100. Where is the extra dollar? In your hand. What you're holding has nothing to do with what they're holding.

49+49+1(mom's dollar)+1(dad's dollar)=100
